Émile SAURET: 24 Études Caprices, Op.64 Vol. 4
Released in May 2020 on Naxos
Picture

Fanfare Magazine, November 2020
"Rashidova’s control of widely spaced, continuous double-stopped thirds is remarkable. No. 22 in B Minor puts up a powerful front with its towering triple-stopped chords, but we’re soon back to delicate arpeggiated figuration, which Rashidova makes flow like a crystal stream of water. The final Caprice, in E Minor, ends in a potent fireworks display that Rashidova puts over with consummate skill."

American Record Guide, November 2020
"Rashidova’s technique and musicianship are an example to nearly every violinist alive, and Sauret’s music has a higher level of complexity in these final five works than in the earlier ones."

Fanfare Magazine, January 2020
"Rashidova is brilliant and sounds commanding on Sauret's own 1685 Stradivari. That's a recommendation in itself." ©
The Strad Magazine, October 2019
"The pieces are substantial and although the virtuosity level is high - Rashidova plays superbly - there is poetry amid the note-spinning." ©

American Record Guide, 'Critic's Choice, November 2017
"This music is exciting and like Paganini's Caprices gives the listener a feeling akin to watching a high-wire act. As I listened, I kept thinking, "Did she really just do that?" I can finally recommend a recording of studies for the violin aside from Paganini's exemplary set that any music lover can enjoy." ©

Carnival
Released in September 2016 on
First Hand Records
Picture

Fanfare Magazine, 2016
“For those who enjoy this kind of program, Rashidova’s and Hvartchilkov’s should be appropriate for either careful listening or exquisite entertainment. It’s short, but it’s oh, so sweet. Urgently recommended.”
Foreword
The combination of violin and guitar is not so uncommon today, partly due to the appeal of the instruments’ complementary timbres. However, it is still quite challenging to find works for the duo where the roles are equally demanding and virtuosic, not only musically and technically, but most importantly, tonally and dynamically. With the present recording, we wanted to demonstrate music which displays this equal balance, through brand new arrangements of finely crafted selections of popular classical works. Our collaboration began over a decade ago, when we met during our studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London. During this time, and since, we have arranged and transcribed a considerable amount of diverse repertoire from different periods and genres. With a few exceptions, the majority of the material on ʻCarnivalʼ, our second album, is entirely arranged/composed by ourselves.

"Rashidova is an accomplished player and has assembled a programme that might inspire some of her peers. …the aplomb and character of [Rashidova and Grimwood’s] playing carry the day." ©
Cambridge University Press, December 2017
"Rashidova performs on this album with perfect technique and razor-sharp intonation. Her seductive sound is full of colour and charm, and she performs throughout the album with a mature understanding of the music." ©

'Dreams' is an album showcasing a collection of 20th-century Azerbaijani popular song classics by Tofig Guliyev, Gara Garayev and Rauf Hajiyev. Fusing Western traditions, Azerbaijani folk music, and American jazz, the popular and classical oriental and Western themes and approaches in these new transcriptions and arrangements aim to capture the rich harmonies, lyricism and nostalgic intensity of the songs to perfection, while bringing out an equally virtuosic dialogue between the violin and guitar.

Leopold GODOWSKY: Violin and Piano Music
Released in June 2013 on Naxos
Picture

The Strad Magazine, September 2013
"This music radiates enchanted contentment and bonhomie in much the same vein as Kreisler’s own indelibly Viennese miniatures. It is an idiom that has defeated even some of the finest players, yet Azerbaijani-born Nazrin Rashidova captures its elusive, tantalising combination of insouciant cool and nostalgic intensity to perfection." ©
Expedition Audio, February 2014
"This music is alluring and colorful, strangely romantic, often melancholy and, well, rather difficult to describe—which makes a good segue to the introduction of the sample track from the CD where you can hear the music for yourself. It’s the opening track on the album, Avowal, a charming transcription of Godowsky’s piano piece, Poem No 2. Ms Rashidova and Mr Chadwick capture the charisma and charm of the music in performances that are technically secure, musically beguiling and stylistically, seem to be right in the idiom of each of Godowsky’s creations. In all, this is a delightful hour of extraordinary and exotic music." ©
